My wife and I both had separate but similar disappointing experiences with billing/payment mistakes that were only corrected after awkward and time consuming back-and-forth with the billing guy “explaining” some illegible treatment plan and then going back to… wherever he goes back to… to “check” and come back with another offer. Multiple times. At best, they’re disorganized and bad at math. At worst, they’re purposely hoping most people don’t catch their attempts to charge more than is owed. Paying for dental services shouldn’t be like buying a used car. We will not be returning.

Excellent service by all staff, which started at booking. My insurance was verified promptly and I was able to get in as a new patient in a more than reasonable time. The office actually felt posh with a television I could watch during my cleaning with me controlling the remote! They were thorough with gathering background, concerns I had and with my cleaning. I did end up electing to do a preventive procedure and my insurance coverage for it was determined on the spot and was completed same day. The staff was on time, friendly and welcoming across the board, and knowledgeable. I was alerted and educated on things I had not been advised of with my previous multi-practice chain dentist office - and it wasn’t to sell me procedures.Super pleased with Dr. Bakke for taking a thorough look at everything, her professionalism and recommendations.

From beginning to end my experience was amazing. They helped with paying for parking and were very patient. When I got taken back I was given a little tour of the office and when I got sat and was explaining my dental history, she was very clear in explaining what could be the issue and how to best resolve them. I think her name was Morgan. While she was cleaning my teeth she made sure I comfortable the whole time and kept checking to see if I need a break which I very much appreciated. They came and explained my dental plan very clearly and made sure I understood what was being said and the pricing. I spoke with multiple staff members and all of them were patient, helpful, and made sure I was comfortable and understood everything through my whole appointment. I also very much enjoyed being able to watch Netflix during the tooth cleaning

Dr Jacobsen, Miss Tessia, & Dr Jacobsen’s staff are very polite and professional. Dentistry is practiced painlessly on this old patient. And I have no cavities by following Dr Jacobsen’s suggestions (Proxy Brushes & electric toothbrushes) for my daily dental hygiene & routine. I will continue to go to Dr Jacobsen for dental care. Dr Jacobsen takes time answer questions. She obviously cares about her patients!

Updating my original review after a horrible filling experience that led to my first root canal. After getting a filling done (my second ever), and then a crack to said filling (because it was too high) repaired, I was in unbearable pain for two weeks --unable to chew or sleep on that side and taking Advil and Tylenol around the clock. I went back to my prior dentist for a consultation and numbing injection, and after quickly reviewing the x-rays from Toothbar they said it was because of how my nerve sits in the tooth, and the placement of the filling relative to my nerve meant the tooth pulp wouldn't have a chance to heal.I was never told by Toothbar that there was a risk of a root canal or given any kind of warning based on the anatomy of my tooth and felt completely unprepared, and this happened right before Thanksgiving so it was a scramble to find an endodontist. Between cleanings and this experience, I noticed they are far less transparent and patient education-focused than my previous dentist, who I've gone back to despite moving across town. I will give Toothbar that I'm happy with my Invisalign treatment.Previous review:------------I have bad dental anxiety after a poor experience at a different practice, but the team here are really compassionate and prioritize your comfort. I also highly recommend them for Invisalign.

Had multiple bad experiences. I resonate with all the other reviewers who say that they’ve never been told they had that many cavities in their life. I also take fairly good care of my teeth, and I’ve never had an adult cavity in my life. When I went there, they told me I had 7 to 10 cavities that needed to be filled. Which seemed absolutely crazy to me. Especially that I go twice a year and I’ve never had any issues. I had a friend who is a dentist out-of-state review my x-rays and they confirmed that a lot of the recommended treatments were unnecessary. On another occasion, I had my teeth whitened. I had gotten through the first of something like three to five sets of whitening in the same day. After the first one, I was in so much pain. It was to the point that I was on the verge of crying. I have a fairly high pain tolerance and never cry. I asked them if there was anything that they could do to help me and they didn’t even get the dentist to come look at me. To add injury to insult they would not refund me for majority of the treatment that I did not receive. I left crying because I was in so much pain.Another time they tried to sell me on fluoride toothpaste. As a medical provider myself, I know that this is also given as a prescription, and my insurance can cover it. Ive had multiple prior dentists in the past so this without issue or as the standard. I asked them if they could send me a prescription my pharmacy. They refused and wanted me to buy the markup price of the fluoride toothpaste in their office. At one visit, I went to have my annual check up and the dentist with someone I never met before. And was not someone I recognized as being one of the regular dentist. I thought it was odd, and expected her introduce herself or explain what was going on. But no one did. I finally asked and it was a temp that was covering vacation for the regular dentists. I understand people take vacation and should totally deserve that but it should be explained and made sure that you’re comfortable with seeing other dentist. My last straw was when I had set a dentist appointment six months in advance as you do. I had gotten multiple reminders that my appointment was coming up and I had confirmed it. The day before in a TEXT, they let me know that they are no longer accepting my insurance and making sure I was okay with paying $357. Find it crazy that’s the cost for a regular checkup. They’d had multiple opportunity is to let me know when they were confirming my appointment for days and weeks before. And instead of calling me to inform me of this important information, they send it through a text. I'm sure if I had randomly cancelled on them less than 24 hours prior to my appointment, it would be unacceptable and I would incur a cancellation fee and/or couldn't get rescheduled for months. Similarly it's very frustrating to only be notified of it last minute when I have had to rearrange my work schedule and other obligations in order to keep this appointment for the past 6 months. It seems that there’s a lot of dental practices now that try to make their offices seem modern and chic, while they mark up their prices and recommend unnecessary treatments. If anyone find a great family dentist in Austin, please let me know.

I had a great first experience at Toothbar! From the time you walk in until you leave, you are treated like a VIP. The staff is welcoming and the office and location are beautiful. Tess was the most gentle hygienist I've ever had. My teeth are super sensitive and she made sure to have a gentle touch. And I have to give a shout out to Jewel, who took my x-rays. She is so friendly and explained everything in detail. It was the best cleaning I ever had. Dr. Bakke provided a great exam too. Gentle dentistry at its finest. I highly recommend the Toothbar and I'm happy to make them my new dental home!

If you're looking for a posh place to get your teeth cleaned, this office is not bad. However I would NOT recommend getting serious treatment. The crown the doctor put in was way too big and I had gone back twice to get it adjusted. Finally the doctor just told me there's nothing she can do about it. The crown cracked from the adjustments. When I called asking for an appointment to discuss the crack, I was told I had to pay for the visit because the doctor who worked on my tooth is no longer with the office. Although the office has my visiting records in the system, the staff who answered the phone said he can't attest to my actually being there because he wasn't there.

Today was my first time as a new patient at Toothbar. Bailey who works the front desk is super friendly and helpful. She got me all taken care of with all the forms to fill out before I arrived. The dental office is very chic and modern. It's got a cool Austin vibe you'd expect just in the form of a dental office. By far the coolest/state of the art dentist office I've been too. Tess was my Dental Hygienst who helped me. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I got a cleaning and xrays done within an hour. I loved the music that they played at the office. And the retractable Netflix TV was a nice touch. Something to distract your mind with. Dr Jacobsen had such a calming presence. She went over my teeth and offered her suggestions. I felt an immediate rapport with her. She seems to care a lot about her patients and offering them services that they need. Overall I had a great experience at Toothbar. Would highly recommend. Convenient location, 2hr validated parking, friendly staff, and modern facility!
